BENGALURU, October 25, 2025 —
History was made today at Mount Carmel College, Autonomous (MCC), as the iconic institution hosted its first-ever Pets’ Day in spirited collaboration with The CJ Memorial Trust. The event, held at MCC's campus on Vasanthnagar, proved to be an overwhelming success, marking the start of what promises to be a long-standing tradition of compassion and animal welfare advocacy at the college.
The air was electric, filled with the enthusiastic energy and genuine compassion of the students, faculty, and their beloved furry companions. The event showcased the deep interest and dedication of the students, who, alongside the supportive teachers and the Student Council—especially the Welfare Head, Ms. Shalin, who was instrumental in pulling the event together at such short notice—ensured a seamless and joyous day for all.
A Grand Inauguration and Distinguished Guests
The day kicked off with the Pets and Owners arrival and registration in the Amphitheatre from 08:30 AM to 09:30 AM, followed by the official Inauguration at 09:30 AM in the BBC. The event was graced by:
Chief Guest: Dr. Parameshwara KT, Deputy Director, Dept. of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Bangalore Urban District.
Guest of Honour: Ms. Priya Chetty-Rajagopal, Managing Partner Multiversal Advisory LLP, and Founder of CFB, The CJ Memorial Trust & Heritage Beku.
Contests, Compassion, and Community Spirit
From 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the contests and activities went full pace with excellent turnout and high participation. Pets and their owners delighted the audience with engaging events, including:
Event 1 – Show us a trick
Event 2 – Twinning time (a ramp walk showcasing pet-owner resemblance and coordination!)
Event 3 – Mini obstacle race
The atmosphere was vibrant, culminating in the Prize and Goodies Distribution and Vote of Thanks from 12:45 PM to 01:15 PM, followed by a memorable Photo Session until 01:30 PM.
A Home for Every Heart: The Adoption Drive
Beyond the fun and games, the heart of the event was the compassion demonstrated by the MCC community. We were incredibly happy to arrange an Adoption Centre in collaboration with The CJ Memorial Trust. The response was immediate and heartwarming: out of the seven adorable puppies brought to the center, seven have already been adopted, with home checks currently underway to ensure they transition to loving, safe environments.
The spectacular turnout and participation for this very first pet event in the history of Mount Carmel College is a clear indicator of the community's commitment to animal welfare. It's safe to say this event will not only be the start of many more annual Pets' Day celebrations but also a precursor to numerous initiatives and campaigns of compassion towards animals.
Mount Carmel College is firmly securing its place in history as a compassionate teaching college, nurturing not just academic excellence but also empathy and responsibility towards all living beings.
